Benefit piano recital for the Black Dog Institute
I recently held a benefit piano recital for the Black Dog Institute. The Black Dog Institute is a not-for-profit facility for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder. It was founded in 2002 by the UNSW School of Psychiatry Professor Gordon Parker and is based in Sydney, Australia.
This recital, titled Songs and Dances by Moonlight, was held in memory of former student Angus Reekie.
The performers, in addition to myself, were students drawn from Sydney’s Inner West. The concert featured 5 premiere performances and students performing their own works were coached by yours truly.
It was a wonderfully atmospheric night and I gave the first performances of my solo piano works Islamic Angels and Little Requiem in the form of 3 Antique Dances.
I can be contacted for composition lessons and advice here.
